The Black Red Tag
Perdigon: The Black Red Tag
A classic and a true staple, the Black Red Tag is a must-have perdigon nymph in any nymph angler's fly box. Its slim profile and the strong contrast between the black body and the fluorescent red tag make it a deadly-effective imitation in many situations and on all types of rivers.
- Hook : Hanak H230BL and H130BL
- Bead : Tungsten bead Silver, Copper or Gold
- Thread : Veevus 8/0 or 6/0 black
- Tag : Micro Floss Textreme Fluo Red
- Tails : Pardo fibers grade 2
- Finish : 1 to 2 coats of UV resin
You can tie this perdigon mainly on H230BL hooks, but to optimize small sizes it can be worth using the H130BL reference (see the chart below).
Apply UV resin for a smooth, glossy finish and better durability.
Effective in both clear water and slightly colored flows, this perdigon gets down quickly thanks to its tungsten bead and slick finish. It draws trout and grayling with its contrast and pop of bright color, while still staying natural and subtle.
