Dry fly - Fratnik - Light yellow body
The Fratnik light yellow body is a minimalist CDC dry fly, designed to imitate a small mayfly, an emerger, or more generally a discreet insect sitting in the surface film.
Created by Marjan Fratnic, the Fratnik, also known as the F-Fly, has become a great European classic for delicate dry fly fishing. Its principle is simple: few materials, a very natural silhouette, and a subtle presentation to fool difficult fish.
Its light yellow body, ribbed with green, gives this Fratnik a bright shade that is especially effective for light-colored mayflies, small emergers, and pale insects. The green ribbing adds a slight contrast and enhances the segmented look of the body without making the fly too flashy.
This is the version to choose when fish are taking pale insects in the surface film, especially in late spring and summer, on clear water or slow to medium currents. It can be particularly effective on delicate rises from trout and grayling.

La Fine Mouche's Take
A very interesting Fratnik when fish are taking pale insects in the surface film. The light yellow body adds brightness, while the green ribbing provides just the right amount of contrast and depth.
Thanks to its minimalist tying style and the suppleness of CDC, this Fratnik greatly reduces leader twist, even with a fine tippet. A real advantage when you need to fish light, accurately, and discreetly.
