Dry fly - F-Dun CDC Pale Yellow
The F-Dun CDC Pale Yellow is a dry fly with a pale yellow body, designed to imitate small pale mayflies at the dun stage. Its slim, airy tying style is especially well suited to difficult fish in slow currents, glides and calm water.
In these areas, fish have more time to inspect every imitation. A lighter silhouette can make all the difference when they refuse bulkier flies.
Inspired by Marjan Fratnik's F-Fly, this version combines a CDC wing with tails, legs, a dubbing thorax and a silk body. These details complete the fly without adding excessive bulk.
Key strengths
- Slim, airy tying style: a strong choice for selective fish that take time to inspect the fly.
- Pale yellow body: a shade well suited to hatches of small pale mayflies.
- Fasna F-100 hook: barbless dry fly model, selected for its balance of strength and lightness.
When should you use the F-Dun CDC Pale Yellow?
Use it when you see fish rising to small mayflies with cream or pale yellow bodies. Choose a size close to the insects on the water and aim for a drag-free drift, which is especially important on the calmer sections of the river.

La Fine Mouche's view: a fly worth keeping in your box for delicate rises on smooth glides. We would choose it when the insects present are small and pale, paying just as much attention to presentation as to the choice of imitation.
