Dry Fly - Tavanas GDC 14 - Devaux
Dry fly - Tavanas GDC 14 - Devaux
The Devaux Tavanas GDC 14 is a sedge-style dry fly, designed to imitate an adult caddisfly while offering excellent visibility on the water. Its large fluorescent orange sighting post remains very easy to spot, even at distance, in fast currents or when the light becomes less favorable.
This version stands out with its olive body paired with a gray thorax, beneath a long, full wing that naturally suggests the silhouette of a sedge sitting on the water. Its strong buoyancy also makes it an excellent fly for dry-dropper fishing. Properly treated with floatant, it can easily support a nymph fitted with a tungsten bead up to 2.8mm, while remaining clearly visible on the surface.
A highly visible sedge for dry-dropper fishing
The fluorescent orange sighting post makes it easy to track the drift and quickly detect a stop, an acceleration or the fly disappearing. The Tavanas GDC 14 can therefore act as a strike indicator, while still remaining a true caddisfly imitation that can be fished on its own as a dry fly.
Key features
- Sedge imitation: a long, full silhouette that suggests an adult caddisfly sitting on the surface.
- Very high visibility: its fluorescent orange sighting post is easy to spot in currents and at long range.
- Perfect for dry-dropper fishing: can carry a nymph with a bead up to 2.8mm when properly treated with floatant.
- Olive body and gray thorax: a natural color combination that adds contrast to the fly.
Fishing tip
Fish it on its own during periods of caddisfly activity, or use it as the buoyant top fly in a dry-dropper setup. In the latter case, take the time to treat it well with floatant to maintain optimal buoyancy and excellent visibility throughout the drift.

La Fine Mouche's opinion: a highly visible and versatile sedge. Its fluorescent orange sighting post is particularly useful for dry-dropper fishing, while the olive body and gray thorax give it a natural, well-contrasted silhouette.
