Blog Buzzer NEW GAZOLINE - Fly Tying Tutorial

Buzzer : New Gasoline

This buzzer is a minimalist and highly effective stillwater imitation.

For this pattern, I use a Hanak H 300 BL hook in size 12 — its curve is ideal and it offers excellent strength.

The fly requires only Veevus 8/0 black thread and New Gazoline flat tinsel 0.6 mm.

The pattern is simple to tie but demands clean, consistent wraps when applying the tinsel. Aim for smooth, even turns for the best finish.

Tying steps

- Place the Hanak H 300 BL hook in the vise.

- Start your Veevus 8/0 thread just behind the eye.

- Take touching turns down to the bend.

- Tie in the 0.6 mm tinsel and return towards the eye with smooth, even wraps. You may do a second pass if you want a slightly thicker body.

- Wrap the tinsel forward in open turns (as shown in the photo), stopping at the thread behind the eye, then secure it with the tying thread.

- Build a black head; you may make it slightly bulkier than in the photo.

- Finish with a whip finish and trim the thread.

- Apply one or two coats of thin UV resin for a glossy and durable finish.
