Blob Eggstasy “Candy Floss”
The “Candy Floss” Blob is a bright, irresistible fly designed for stillwater fishing. Its ultra-fine fibres and generous volume make it a superb attractor, perfect for triggering the curiosity and aggression of trout, especially in cold or slightly coloured water.
This pattern can be tied in several colour variations. I particularly like the following shades: Fluo Fuchsia, Fluo Pink, Fluo Light Pink, and Fluo Light Orange.
Use a tungsten bead of at least 2.5 mm, ideally 2.8 mm to 3 mm for blob-style fishing. Don’t hesitate to experiment with different bead colours.
This fly is simple and quick to tie:
- Secure the chenille with the tying thread near the hook bend.
- Make about five wraps of chenille up to the bead, taking care to stroke the fibres backwards after each turn.
- Finish the fly with a whip finish knot.
Important: once your fly is complete, brush the fibres thoroughly with a Velcro-style brush for at least 30 seconds. This step creates the famous “Candy Floss” effect — soft, airy, and ultra-attractive — that makes all the difference.

- Bead: Standard or slotted tungsten bead in Silver, Copper, Pink, Rainbow, or Black Nickel
- Tying thread: Veevus 8/0 to 14/0 in black or pink
