Shadow FF Reel - Soldarini Fly Tackle
Reel - Shadow FF - SOLDARINI FLY TACKLE
The Shadow FF from Soldarini Fly Tackle is a full-frame reel particularly well suited to euro nymphing. Its fully enclosed frame helps prevent fine monofilaments or specific Euro nymphing fly lines of around 0.55 mm from slipping between the spool and the frame.
CNC-machined from a solid block of aluminium, it combines robust construction, a medium-size arbor with good capacity, and a precise, progressive carbon disc drag. The #0/4 version is particularly appealing for light outfits and euro nymphing, while the #3/5 offers greater versatility for long nymphing rods, dry fly fishing, classic nymphing and small streamers.
Key features
- Full-frame design: helps prevent the line from passing between the spool and frame, especially useful with fine mono and Euro nymphing fly lines.
- Carbon disc drag: smooth start-up and progressive adjustment to better protect fine tippets.
- CNC machining: reel milled from a solid block of aluminium to combine lightness, rigidity and strength.
- Medium-size arbor: a balance between generous capacity and compact dimensions.
- Right- / left-hand convertible: quick and easy retrieve direction change.
- Two sizes: #0/4 for light outfits and euro nymphing; #3/5 for longer rods and more versatile use.
- Two colours: Metallic Brown and Matt Black.

La Fine Mouche's take: the Shadow FF is an excellent choice for anglers looking for a full-frame reel truly suited to the fine mono used in euro nymphing. The #0/4 version is the most logical option for light outfits and shorter rods, while the #3/5 adds more capacity and versatility for long nymphing rods, dry fly fishing or small streamers. Its value for money is particularly attractive for a CNC-machined reel with an enclosed cage and carbon drag.
