The “Squirmy Worm” is an exceptionally effective fly that imitates an aquatic worm. Its body made of 1.5 mm “Hot Red” Squirmy Worm material, Peacock dubbing “Dark Copper UV,” and a 3 mm slotted silver tungsten bead provide strong attraction and a fast sink rate.
Relatively simple to tie, it works perfectly in tandem with a dry fly in stillwater and is highly effective for grayling in rivers.
Squirmy Worm chenilles are available in different colors, making it worthwhile to vary the colors of chenille and tungsten bead depending on conditions and light.
Recommended hook size according to bead diameter:
- 2.5 mm bead → Hook size 20
- 3 mm bead → Hook size 18
- 3.5 mm bead → Hook size 16
